Walking In Harmony With the Holy Spirit (Part 1)

"We need to accept this truth: Once and for all, Jesus condemned guilt and the power of sin."
~Kevin Zadai

DISCUSSION:
The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:14 TPT

This week, we will discuss a very important subject—walking in harmony with the Holy Spirit. We will focus on Romans 8 as we talk about the status of human beings who have been born again and baptized with the Spirit of God. I want to reveal the Holy Spirit’s mindset toward us and some of the benefits God has already set up for us. This topic is not being taught enough, so there's a lack of understanding throughout the body of Christ. Jesus and His apostles taught this doctrine in the Bible, and all New Testament believers adhered to it. This information shouldn't be foreign, and there should be no argument about it when Jesus, Paul, and Peter were clear.

A NEW CREATION
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

When we are born again, the Spirit of God comes inside us and makes us new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 explains that the Spirit of the Lord causes us to become new creations in Christ. In John 3:1–22, Jesus told Nicodemus about the Holy Spirit coming and allowing us to be born again. Becoming a new creation means you are a new creature in Christ; the old has passed away, and the new has come.

Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. For the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.
Romans 8:5–6 TPT

Romans 8 talks about the mindset of the Spirit who is dwelling in us. The Holy Spirit is the one that causes us to be born again by bringing life to our spirit and making us completely new. In other words, everything is new, which means the old has passed away. Your spirit, which houses the Holy Spirit, can now be in harmony or synchronization with Him. So, the Holy Spirit comes in and does His work through the born-again experience; with everything new and the old having passed away, He has a place to dwell in us, and we can live in synchronization with Him.

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23–24 ESV

When you read 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24, you see that humans are made up of three parts—the spirit, soul, and body. This is not being taught enough. You can look these up in the Strong’s Concordance and see that they're different words, each with their own meaning. It is wrong to interchange the words soul and spirit. The spirit is the part of us that is immediately born again, while the Greek word Paul used for the soul refers to the psychological realm. The soul is the part that needs to be renewed.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2

The soul is a person's mind, will, and emotions, which must be transformed once they are born again. For example, in Romans 12:2, Paul states that our lives must be transformed by allowing the Word of God to renew our minds. Our mindset must change; this is the process of sanctification, which is different than the born-again experience. Romans 12:2 refers to the mind, which is part of the soul, not the spirit.

o What is the difference between the soul and the spirit of a person?

THE CRUCIFIED LIFE
In addition to the spirit and soul, 1 Thessalonians 5:23 also mentions the body. Our bodies house our spirits, and each of us has a soul that attaches itself. Even if you are born again, if you’re not careful, you could be limited in your spirit-life because the other aspects of your being could work against you. That is why your soul must be renewed.

We will continue discussing the process of renewing our minds because many Christians don't understand that there are specific actions they must take. As mentioned, you must realize that the soul part of you will actually conflict with your spirit if it's not renewed.

It’s the same with your body: If you don't discipline your body and tell it, “You’re not going to do this,” or “You’re not going to go there,” it will do whatever it wants. Your soul can also work against you when you think about anything you want. If you do not control your thoughts, they will be random. This truth has often been neglected in Christian teachings.

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20

If everyone understood that there was something they were supposed to be doing to synchronize or be in harmony with the Holy Spirit, I believe they would do it. The scriptures instruct us to live the crucified life (Galatians 2:20), deny ourselves (Matthew 16:24–26), and judge ourselves like Paul said to do at the Communion table (1 Corinthians 11:28–32). If we judge ourselves, we will not be judged. All these principles involve allowing the Spirit of God to have His way with you. Out of three parts of you, He has access to your spirit-man when you are born again. The Holy Spirit can talk to, lead, and guide you by dwelling in your spirit.

Most people don't hear the voice of God or know what He is saying because the strength of this fallen world has fortified the enemy’s lies in their souls. The spirit of the world has a significant influence on the mental realm and even impacts the physical body. It is not suitable for a Christian to be under this power. First, we must strengthen our spirit and give more precedent to the spirit realm. Next, weaning ourselves off the world's influence on our souls and bodies is crucial. I'm not saying that we shouldn’t take care of our physical body or our psychological realm, but it shouldn't be the priority. Our primary focus should not just be on worldly things; in other words, we should have a balance. I do everything possible to make myself healthy in my body and mind, yet I do not neglect the spirit realm.

IT IS FINISHED
One of the greatest battles believers fight is still feeling condemned and guilty for their past sins; this is foreign in the apostles' teachings and with Jesus. If Jesus’s purpose for coming was to die on the cross for your sins so you're not guilty anymore, He would be disappointed, at the very least, if He had to come back and do more. That would mean His sacrifice wasn't enough. In other words, if you're still lacking in a certain area that Jesus already paid the price for, He would be very upset if He had to be crucified again. The truth is that your sin was paid for in full on the cross when Jesus announced, “It is finished” (John 19:30).

So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.
Romans 8:1 TPT

Romans 8:1 should be read with an absolute truth perspective; it says that “now the case against you is closed.” There is no longer an accusing voice of condemnation against those who are “joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.” It is clearly written, yet our daily battle seems completely different. Many people struggle with feelings of guilt, tormenting thoughts, and all kinds of struggles because of their past. Yet this verse says that the case against us is closed, which means it's gone, and there's no accusing voice.

In the heavenly realms, nothing condemns believers, so when Christians say they feel condemned or guilty, it needs to be rectified. This is all part of being in harmony with the Holy Spirit and walking in the supernatural. So, if the case is closed, we need to know that it is sealed up. The reason why the case is closed, and there is no accusing voice anymore from our past, is because we're joined in this life-union with Jesus; we are free from condemnation. In other words, there is a flow of life between us and the Anointed One.

For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us from the “law” of sin and death. For God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature. Yet God sent us His Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave His body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin.
Romans 8:2–3 TPT

Romans 8:2 explains that through the anointing of Jesus, the law of the Spirit of life has liberated us or set us free from the law of sin and death. Verse 3 states that God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was “limited by the weakness of human nature.” You must not continue relying on your own strength or your good works. Again, this is a life flow of grace by the Spirit of God that sets you free and causes you to be in harmony with Him.
Through Jesus, God achieved liberty for us, which the law could not.

• Our attempts to be good people and do good works were unable to accomplish this liberty.

• Because of our human weakness, we can't fulfill all of the Law.

• Paul essentially said in Romans 8:2 that the life-union with Jesus, the anointing, is causing us to be free—not obeying the law or being good.

• God sent His Son in human form to identify with our weakness (Hebrews 4:14–16).

Jesus literally encountered everything that we go through. Even though He is God, He also became fully human so He could identify with us. Being sinless, He presented His body as an offering for us, so it is done, period. We need to accept this truth: Once and for all, Jesus condemned guilt and the power of sin. Romans 8:3 says that “once and for all,” God condemned the guilt and the power of sin. This is the bottom line. The body of believers must be fully convinced of what has been done and that our status in Heaven is not guilty.

PRAYER:
Father, thank You so much for the good news that You sent Jesus to preach, and then Jesus sent us to preach. The good news of the Gospel is that through Jesus Christ, You completely forgave us of our condition of sin from our past. Thank You for causing us, through the indwelling Spirit, to walk in the heavenly realm on this earth. Thank You, Father, for allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and convince us to be in harmony with Heaven and synchronization with Your heart. In the name of Jesus, I break every demonic power that's working against my family all over the earth. Thank You, Father, that we are more than conquerors and are seated with You in the heavenly realms, in the name of Jesus, amen.
